The Dutch line Transfennica has decided to include a direct weekly call to the British port,Tilbury, as part of its rotation service between Bilbao and Zeebrugge, Belgium. This call will come into service as from Friday 7 May, thus showing that Transfennica continues to respond to increasing customer demand.
The direct sailings to Tilbury take on both general and oversized cargo and even dangerous goods. The vessel leaving Bilbao at 20.00 hours will call at Tilbury on Sundays at 14.00 hours, and after unloading, will continue its route to Zeebrugge. The new link offers the option to ship a substantial part of weekly exports to the United Kingdom on Thursdays and Fridays, and to deliver to all parts of Britain by Monday morning.
Other advantages of this service include the fact that Tilbury is nearer London than other ports in the south of England, in addition to cost saving and increased road transport productivity that unaccompanied trailers suppose.
The new link will be direct in outgoing traffic, while on the return, it will form a triangle with that from Zeebrugge; thus the complete cycle will consist of Bilbao-Tilbury-Zeebrugge-Bilbao. In addition, the Transfennica Iberia and Baltic Sea services will link.
