Car Transport
The Spanish automobile industry produces over three million vehicles annually, some 80% of which are exported mainly to Europe by sea and rail. It has been calculated that by 2011, there will be vehicle movements of some 3.8 million units.
The Port of Bilbao is close to vehicle-assembly plants like Vitoria, Valladolid, Pamplona and Zaragoza, and so has a specialised platform for new vehicles traffic, which is distinguished for its flexibility, the quality of its loading, the speed of Customs procedures and specially trained personnel for handling such fragile goods.
The Ro-Ro infrastructures developed by the Port of Bilbao have boosted the growth in this traffic with countries on the Atlantic sea face in recent years.
