The Port of Bilbao, which is committed to multimodality, has an effective network of road and rail connections in continuous development.
Train the port of Bilbao
Bilbao is the port on the Atlantic Arc which makes most use of the railway, with 9% of dry cargo, rising to 18% if containers are included, being moved by rail into or out of the Port’s facilities. Each week, 64 trains enter or leave the freight station at Bilbao either departing for or arriving from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville.
All Port of Bilbao docks have road or rail accesses directly linked to the European motorway networks.
Further guarantee of the Port of Bilbao’s commitment to multimodality is the fact that it holds partnerships in the Dry Port of Azuqueca de Henares (Madrid), the logistics centre of the Dry Port of Madrid, and in the enterprise promoting the Dry Port of Burgos.
In addition, within the very port facilities there is a TECO terminal and a marshalling yard.
All this is complemented by the new infrastructures being built around the Port, the most outstanding of which is the high velocity train, which will link the Basque capital cities with the European network, Madrid and Barcelona.
