Bilbao Atlántico Frío Terminal (BAFT), or Perishable Goods Terminal, has one of the largest traffic in the port, annually moving quantities of around 12,000 pallets. The main advantage that this situation offers its users is the access to a market of more than 20 million people in a radius of 400 kilometres, by means of the direct connection with the European motorway network.

At present, in addition to consolidating and cultivating the loyalty of the current traffic, its is anticipated that this Terminal channel some of the huge shipments of fruit to short sea shipping in the Marco Polo programme established by the EU. In this sense, the Port of Bilbao's perishable goods terminal is prepared for offering suitable logistics solutions for this method of transport, even offering its customers the possibility of importing fruit from China and South Africa due to the excellent connections between Bilbao and the main ports in these countries.

Furthermore, the BAFT has made big investments in improving its installations aimed at meeting the needs of Health and Industry requirements and having its own Health Register. This initiative allows its customers to use the Terminal's warehouses as a distribution centre for fruit and vegetables when they lack their own infrastructures.
